FNM Government
It is hard to believe, but this FNM Government simply do not get it Instead of them adressing .. the present situation like grown ups.. they play little children games and go back to the past.
Never has so many people lost their homes. Doctors and Lawyers complain about the downturn in their business,Real estate persons complain. business are closing down and the best the cookie monster can do is read from some paper what the /..unemployment rate was years ago.they make themselves appear like a bunch of fools.
You can not really expect any results from them. because they have no idea of the severity of the economy. or how much the Bahamian people are suffering. and they do not care, they can go to the bank each month for their pay. while most Bahamian do not know where the next Dollar will come from to buy food or pay their bills.
Things are really bad and Bahamians. do not want hand outs. how far do you think those food stamps go,?
Strachan,
Really ! They Don't Get It .
Mr . Editor , If I were to utter the words that I'am about to write , I'am sure they would be passed off as just another mean spirited P.L.P. This morning , while watching the house debate on the economic crisis in the country , an F.N.M. supporter made this statement in private . quote . " I hate to say this , but some of these ministers are really intellectually challenge ". After listening to Brensil Rolle , Kenneth Russell , and two others , I was in full agreement with him . In fact , now , more than ever . Why persons such as Brensil Rolle , believe , he of all people , whom if he told you the sky was blue , you would not believe him . He takes one or two words out-off context , and then try to pass them off as the ' whole ' truth . Please ! Even Ingraham saw through this one . When will members of this government stop and think , Bahamians are not the ' fools' they think we are .I know this may come as a shock to Hubert Ingraham and his ministers , but , the people are hurting . 8-10 thousand people out-off work is nothing to giggle about . The time has come for them to stop the school girl ' giggle ' and get serious . Every nation in the world , with the exception of Bahamas , came-up with a meaningful solution to bail-out their primary industries to secure , and where possible , create jobs , but what do we do here , give out food stamps . The Bahamian people don't want a hand out , they want a hand up ! Just today , the U.S. government , granted a $ 25 billion bail-out to the big three auto makers , heres the reason , to save and create jobs . That is , on top of the $ 700 billion bail-out off banks and the other incentives , this is what a careing , foreward thinking government would do . This morning , the Hon . Fred Mitchell spoke about the possibility of the government securingan interest in the Royal Oasis Resort , thereby , putting to work , apx . 600-700 construction workers , and 1,300 full time hotel workers , but what did we get from this government ' giggle ' What did we get from the so-called ministers , and M.P's from Grand Bahama , Not One Word .
Fred Moss,
KUDO TO FRED MITCHELL
I would like to send congrats to Mr. Mitchell on his video report on the front page.I have been hearing of the media being biased to the PLP for a long time and I think that Mr. Mitchells reports and a few others that I have seen here is a step in the right direction to show the people of the nation what is really happening in the country and ideas to solve problems plaguing the nation.
I hope that others will follow suit and show the public the innovation that is in the PLP.

J, we've lead the way in everything else so it should surprise no one if we do it again with our use of technology to get our word out.
JCP,
FNM = no foresight
Admin
When the price of oil was skyrocketing the FNM didint seem to think that the high price would affect BEC consumers. No one in the FNM had a proactive plan to deal with the consequences of high oil prices until folks bills started jumping through the roof massive disconnections and people started making noise that HI decided to take action. BUT the thing is when he did act in the price of oil had already begun its decline. In other words, the BEC arraignment was too little to late because that agreement was needed 5-7 months prior when the price of oil had passed the $90 a barrel mark and didnt reverse until it reached its record high of $146 a barrel.
Then 2 1/2 weeks ago here comes PTAB. They wanted an increase in fare because they said the price of gas was killing them. Knowing that the price of oil was dropping, it would only be a matter of time before gas prices fell here. But the FNM unwisly sprung to their rescue rather than wait and now the price of gas has fallen almost $2 to $3.66. Had the government waited two more weeks, the PTAB's demand for an increase would have been mute and poor Bahamians would have been spared that fare hike.
The point that i am trying to make is, is anyone in the FNM watching what is actually going on locally and overseas? Where is the foresight? Dont they understand how these things will affect the economy in the coming weeks and months? Can't they anticipate these things? That entire cabinet is sleeping at the wheel. Cant wait for 2012.
PLP Admin:
My friend, it has been too long. Here's another thing to consider. It may have been that PTAB, watching the declining oil prices, pushed to government to lock in these increases now so that when the prices come down, the margins would be wider. Whatever the reason, the cost of transportation is going down and thats a good thing. At least for those who drive.
Seer,
Get Real Stephen
Come on Stephen get real. All I asked were pertinent questions of someone who holds himself out to be an expert on things political, moral and social. How could you have one standard for everyone else and a different one for yourself? How could you pontificate on topical issues, the law and our legal system; about a persons rights and his moral values when you admit to never reading the Bible or the Constitution.Isn’t that hypocritical Stephen.Do not let people do for you what you should be doing for yourself, and I believe that is where you have lost your way.Instead of swallowing hook, line and sinker what someone else says, which may not be correct do somereading and research for yourself;accumulate the facts and then form an opinion.Sir Burton 'wisdom' in the recent Senate ruling split the baby referred to in the Book of Solomon; his judgement is wrong and should be appealed.
I am bias towards the PLP because the PLP has a social conscience and the history of The Bahamas is the history of the PLP.You are bias toward the FNM because their history is one of violence and they want everyone to forget it, that is why they keep saying that no one is interested in the UBP.A people who do not know their history is bound to make the mistakes of the past, and that is why you voted FNM and took this country back 50 years.
Unlike you Stephen, I have read the Bible, in fact, I have regular devotions, times for meditation on The Word, prayer and reflection. The bible is a great source of strength for me and guides everything that I do or say.I have read the Constitution and all of the documents that I could get my hands on regarding the Constitution including the White Paper, the Blue Paper and the Green Paper.I do not rely or depend on what people tell me, or what I hear – I try to expand my knowledge by doing my independent research, examining the sources and critically evaluating what I had read.Is that too much to ask of you Stephen?
You may put all of the questions I put to you and I will have an answer for each one of then. How can you claim to be a good citizen when you do not know how a citizen should relate to his society or what is required of a good citizen? What are his responsibilities? Don’t you know that the moral code of most countries, and most of the laws enacted by Parliament are based upon the truths of the Bible? If more people followed the principles of the Bible we would not have the kind of society that we have today – people would be more tolerant, more loving, more kind and more understanding.People would know how to control their anger and not be jumping of buildings committing suicides. What kind of society do you want the future Bahamas to be like, Stephen. One that is amoral, open and godless, or as the bible says every man doing what he thought was right in his own sight? The capital crimes are based on the Ten Commandments - murder, stealing, false witness etc.
Get real my friend, and take my advice.God created us for fellowship with Him.When you are stressed out and you face challenges to whom do you turn for your inner strength?Adam and Eve thought that they could do it on their own and look what happened to mankind. The descendants of Noah thought that they could do it on their own by building a city and a tower (the Tower of Babel) and look what happened to them?Because of Belshazzar idolatry he was found wanting and weighed in the balance. When it comes time for you to kick the bucket and leave this world, will you be facing a merciful judgement because you made your choice and election sure or will you be facing an angry God and the tormenting pangs of hell. The choice is yours my brother, but as for me and my house we choose to serve the Lord. You need to consider the consequences of your happy go lucky lifestyle.

Stephen, a quick glance back at your positions during the discussion on the Senate appointments actually does make George's point. I'm sure the flow of conversation would have been very different if you had revealed not having read the Constitution sooner. Check for yourself. I'd let this one go if I were you.
